Debbie believes in the importance of parents seeking information and strategies before problems arise and having a 'proactive' approach to each stage of parenting. She affirms that the more support parents receive the better their level of awareness, confidence and competence will be in dealing with children and their distinct challenges. At the forefront of her work is the emphasis on building strong relationships.

Debbie has an education background and holds a Master of Education in School Leadership, a Bachelor of Education in Career Education and Counselling, a Certificate in Parent Coaching (ICF accredited) and she is a trained facilitator of the How to Drug Proof my Child program. Debbie is the mother of two amazing teens and significant aunty to 7 others.

Awe-Inspiring is a good word to describe Debbie Bushell. The respected parent-teen coach is at once practical and inspirational. Local mums and dads who attended her recent session walked away with a stash of good ideas to put into practice at home.

Our Programmes: ®
Individual parent programmes are presented with highly researched concepts and proven ideas that children and teenagers respond well to. Programmes aim to encourage open communication and a strong degree of adult-teen connectiveness during the pre-teen and teenage years. The philosophy of the coaching approach is that change must come from the parent or adult in the first instance. To meet this end, parents are asked to adopt new skills or tweak old.

Debbie holds a Master of Education in School Leadership, a Bachelor of Education in Career Education and Counselling, a Diploma of Secondary Teaching and most recently a Certificate in Professional Parent Coaching. “It is important that adults seek information and strategies before problems arise and take a ‘pro-active’ approach to parenting teenagers. Current research urges adults to remain strongly involved in a teen’s life and find support that will raise their level of awareness, confidence and competence in dealing with youth and their distinct challenges. Teenagers still require structure and they need positive direction from adults; yet because of their stage in life, they need to be parented in a different way. When a parent acknowledges the need to change their role to parent-coach as their teen grows from adolescent to adult, the rewards are endless. My programmes are founded on what teens want from parents and those who care for them, together with fulfilling the needs of adults too. At the forefront of each programme is the emphasis on building strong relationships."
